Real itineraries and honest planning from a teacher, an operations professional, and their two girls who travel well.
We're Jamie & Mike, a kindergarten teacher and an operations pro raising two girls and planning trips that actually work for a family.
Jamie wants the girls to learn about the world and experience cultures outside their own, so we plan trips that are both fun and enriching, the kind that stay with the girls long after we come home. Her classroom instincts shape how we pace a day and what we say yes to. Mike runs the logistics, and lives inside spreadsheets and maps. The transfers, the timing, the buffer that turns a great idea on paper into a trip that runs smoothly on the ground.
Between the two of us, we plan trips that feel thoughtful, realistic, and actually enjoyable. The kind you'd want to do again. We just got back from two weeks in Japan with the girls, and we're using this space to share the way we travel: how we plan, what works (and what doesn't), the real itineraries behind the highlight reel, and the little pieces of our trips that stay with us long after we come home.
I grew up in Orange County, and the girls and I still spend one or two months there every year. My local recommendations skip the tourist lists and go straight to the beaches, restaurants, and neighborhoods worth your time.
